SLC Airport Lot E Parking: Rates & Walking Access

Lot E at Salt Lake City International Airport costs $5 per hour, up to $25 per day. It is an uncovered lot east of the parking garage, across the street from the terminal. For a short trip, it is worth comparing with the garage before paying for covered parking.

Where is Lot E, and how do you enter?

The airport places the entrance just beyond the Economy Lot, to the right of the ramp leading into the parking garage. Follow signs for Lot E as you approach. The official Lot E page includes a location map.

Pull up that map before driving into the airport. A navigation destination that simply says “SLC Airport” may send you toward passenger drop-off rather than the parking entrance. If you miss the turn, follow the signed circulation route; do not make a last-second lane change to recover it.

Once parked, take a photo of the nearest location marker and your car’s surroundings. Save it with your parking receipt so the return trip is easier after a late flight.

Walking from Lot E to the terminal

Plan to walk from your parking space using the marked pedestrian route and designated crossings. Check the airport map for your terminal destination before unloading.

SLC’s Lot E description does not publish an official walking time. Your space, luggage, walking pace, and check-in location all affect the trip. We have not timed this walk ourselves.

The useful question is whether everyone in your party can comfortably manage their bags outdoors. A rolling suitcase is a different task from two ski bags, a stroller, and a tired child. Allow time to unload and get organized before starting toward check-in. Keep travel documents and anything needed at the counter accessible.

Reaching the terminal is only part of departure day. Leave your normal check-in and security buffer intact, then allow for the walk to your gate.

Lot E versus the garage and economy

For exactly three full daily charges, those rates produce $75 in Lot E, $135 in the garage, or $42 in economy. Lot E saves $60 against the garage and costs $33 more than economy. These are calculations from posted rates, not reservation quotes; enter your actual times to check your trip total.

Our recommendation: consider Lot E when avoiding the shuttle matters more to you than shelter. For a longer trip, price the economy savings before deciding how much that convenience is worth.

Rain, snow and luggage

Lot E has no roof over the parked car. If snow is forecast, pack what you will need to clear the vehicle before driving home. Think about the return weather as well as the departure forecast: a dry morning outbound does not mean a dry walk after your return flight.

Accessibility and EV charging

If distance or mobility is the deciding factor, ask airport parking staff about the most suitable space and pedestrian route before choosing Lot E. SLC lists designated accessible garage spaces at the economy daily rate for eligible vehicles with a placard or plate. Parking assistance is available at 801-575-2887.

The airport lists EV charging in Lot E North and South. Charging spaces are first come, first served and cannot be reserved in advance. Have a backup charging plan if the drive home depends on plugging in.

Can you reserve Lot E?

Start with the reservation form on the official parking page. Enter your arrival and exit times and check which products are offered. Do not assume a general airport-parking reservation places you in Lot E: check the product name, entry instructions, price, and cancellation terms before paying.

Keep those instructions available offline. If the lot is unavailable for your dates, compare the garage with economy rather than assuming either will cost the same as the Lot E price shown above.

Is Lot E useful for meeting someone inside?

It can be, but its hourly rate matches the standard garage’s hourly rate. For a short greeting, choose based on space availability, weather, and the walk that suits your group. The lower daily maximum matters more when the stay is longer.

Check the current rate or reservation total for your actual entry and exit times.
Save the entrance map and booking instructions.
Plan how everyone will carry luggage to the terminal.
