The story behind this site starts with a morning I showed up at SLC for a normal flight and found the terminal jammed by a convention letting out at the same time, with zero warning it was coming. This tool is the thing I wished existed that day: not a general "arrive early during holidays" tip, but the actual dated list of what's predictably going to make this specific airport busy.

Sorted by when they happen. "Extreme" means one of the two or three biggest travel days of the entire year; "moderate" means noticeably busier than a normal day, not a crisis. Patterns that repeat every year
A few of these are locked to a predictable calendar position even before the exact date is announced, which is why "projected" entries can show up in the table above ahead of an official confirmation:
- LDS General Conference always falls on the first full weekend of April and the first full weekend of October.
- Ski holiday peaks cluster around the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, MLK weekend (third Monday of January), and Presidents' Day weekend (third Monday of February), every season.
What this doesn't catch
This isn't a complete convention calendar. The Salt Palace and Mountain America Expo Center host events constantly, and most of them are too small or too irregularly scheduled to track reliably here — FanX is the one genuinely large enough to list with confidence. For the full, current list, check the Salt Palace's own events calendar or Mountain America Expo Center's directly. Utah Jazz home games aren't listed either: with 41 games a season, any single game's effect on airport crowds is real but minor compared to what's above, not worth a table row.
