Air Canada’s service is temporarily suspended

Air Canada was the second carrier on this route, but the airline says it temporarily suspended SLC–Toronto service beginning June 30, 2026, with service expected to resume in 2027. The airline has not published a specific 2027 restart date, so Delta is the only nonstop operator travelers can currently book.

That is a confirmed suspension rather than a dropped-route inference. In practice, that means the SLC arrival functions like a domestic flight: no customs line, no separate international arrivals area, straight off the plane and out. The trade-off happens entirely on the Toronto end: budget 2.5 to 3 hours before a preclearance departure, more than the roughly 2 hours you’d give a normal domestic flight, since you’re clearing both regular airport security and full U.S. entry processing (passport control, customs, and any secondary questions) before you ever reach the gate. Preclearance lines run longest in the early morning, roughly 5-8am, and again in the late afternoon, so add extra buffer if your flight departs in either window.

Fares and when they move

There’s no tracked fare-timing pattern for this route yet, and Toronto’s demand mix (business travel, Canadian leisure travelers connecting through SLC to points south, plus whatever seasonal swing turns out to be real) is different enough from SLC’s Mexico beach routes that their booking-window advice probably doesn’t transfer directly.
