How much has SLC airport parking actually gone up?

Every confirmed parking rate change at Salt Lake City International since 2015, sourced to real reporting, not marketing copy — plus how it actually stacks up against inflation.

Since 2015, garage parking at SLC has gone from $32 to $45 a day (40.6%), and the economy lot has gone from $9 to $14 (55.6%). Cumulative U.S. inflation over that same stretch runs close to 40%. Garage parking has roughly tracked it. The economy lot has run well ahead of it.

The gaps this page won't paper over

Both lots have a real gap in this dataset. The economy lot went from $9/day in 2015 to $12/day at some point before the 2026 increase was announced; the garage went from $32/day in 2015 to $40/day at some point before the same 2026 announcement. Neither transition has a confirmed date. It's tempting to connect the garage figure to September 2020, when the first phase of "The New SLC" terminal opened with a brand-new 3,600-stall garage replacing the old one — that's a real event, confirmed by contemporary reporting — but that reporting covers the garage's capacity and opening date, not its price. Connecting the two would be a guess, not a sourced fact, so neither transition gets a dated entry in the table above. If you know the exact date of either change, tell me and this page gets corrected immediately.

Against inflation

Cumulative U.S. inflation from 2015 to 2026 runs approximately 39.5%–40.9% depending on the exact month measured (Consumer Price Index data). Garage parking's 40.6% increase over the same period is close enough to call a wash — SLC hasn't meaningfully raised the real cost of garage parking since 2015, once general price growth is accounted for. The economy lot's 55.6% increase is a different story: noticeably ahead of inflation, meaning economy parking has gotten more expensive in real terms, not just nominal terms.
